Terms and attorney advertising policy
Effective and last updated: October 23, 2026
Public guides and paid work product
Public guide pages provide general information and source links. Personalized pleadings, proposed orders, affidavits, service documents, exhibit indexes, filing packets, completed fillable forms, filing preflight, property research, title-chain analysis, genealogy, and heir research are paid services. A scope request is not checkout, representation, a filing, or authority to charge the requester.
Scope, price, payment, and corrections
Coverage, included work product, exclusions, price, timing, and anticipated outside expenses are confirmed before payment. Fixed packages are paid in full before work begins. Complex matters are individually scoped before payment. Records, certified copies, paid database access, filing fees, service costs, notarization, travel, and unusual retrieval expenses are separate unless the written scope says otherwise. A fixed package includes one factual correction requested within seven days after delivery. New facts, new documents, added parties, changed relief, a different jurisdiction, or changed scope may require a paid revision. Unsupported jurisdictions or record systems cannot proceed to payment.
A confirmation code and matching email provide access to the private paid-service portal. The portal may display status, written scope versions, quotes, payment status, record requests, customer responses, delivered files, and correction history. Accepting a written scope does not itself charge a payment method. The customer must separately open Stripe Checkout, and work does not begin until ClearLegalLA receives a valid signed webhook confirming payment. A checkout return page, browser message, or customer screenshot is not payment confirmation. Customers are responsible for keeping their confirmation code and email access secure and for promptly reviewing delivered files.
Paid-service Checkout is a one-time payment for the accepted quote, not an attorney-advertising subscription. Stripe chooses eligible payment methods dynamically and handles card or wallet details. ClearLegalLA does not receive full card numbers. A failed, abandoned, expired, or unpaid checkout does not unlock work or delivery. Duplicate checkout attempts are tied to the same accepted quote to reduce duplicate charges.
Paid-service cancellation, refund review, and records
A customer may submit a cancellation or refund-review request through the verified service portal. Submission records a request for human review; it does not automatically stop work, cancel an outside service, reverse a payment, or extend a deadline. Before work begins, an eligible cancellation normally leaves no service fee due, subject to disclosed outside costs. After work begins, any refund review may consider completed work, committed costs, delivered custom work, duplicate or unauthorized charges, billing errors, defects within the accepted scope, the written scope, and rights required by law. A portal decision or refund-status entry is a record of the review and is not itself a payment transaction.
Completed, declined, or withdrawn service requests may be archived. Archiving closes new messages and uploads but is not deletion; verified downloads may remain available while the record is retained. Closed unpaid or declined requests are normally eligible for permanent disposal after 90 days, and paid or completed service records after 365 days. Eligibility is not a promise of automatic deletion on that exact date. A legal, payment-dispute, fraud, security, accounting, or other lawful hold may extend retention. Customers must keep their own copies. Permanent disposal requires owner review and a separate typed confirmation and cannot be undone. The operational summary is available at paid-service cancellation and records.
Customer review and filing responsibility
Users control the facts, requested relief, and final adoption of any delivered work product. Prepared documents remain drafts until the customer reviews, corrects, adopts, signs, notarizes where required, serves lawfully, and confirms current filing requirements with the proper clerk or court. Louisiana statutes, cases, rules, forms, deadlines, and local practices can change. Criminal, emergency, appeal, prescription, custody, and other time-sensitive matters warrant prompt review by a qualified Louisiana attorney.
Property, title-chain, and heir research
Research reports identify records, apparent chains, parties, dates, recitals, possible encumbrances, family lines, gaps, conflicts, and uncertainty within the accepted scope. They are not title insurance, a title commitment, a title opinion, an abstract guaranteed complete, a legal ownership determination, a probate judgment, or legal advice. Public indexes can be incomplete or delayed, and identity, mineral, succession, boundary, and unrecorded-interest questions may require a licensed attorney, land surveyor, abstractor, genealogist, or title insurer.
Filing results and corrections
Filing, service, and clerk-result records are entered and confirmed by the user. ClearLegalLA does not independently verify acceptance, validity, timeliness, docket entry, or the clerk’s stated reason. Correction checklists are organizational guidance, not a promise that a correction will cure a defect or preserve a filing date. Corrected submissions should be recorded as new events so the earlier result remains in the user’s history. Optional anonymous outcome contributions are unchecked by default, reduced to coarse categories, and may be incomplete or inaccurate; they are not official court statistics.
No attorney-client relationship
Using the platform, reading a guide, requesting or purchasing a service, receiving research or prepared documents, submitting a review, or contacting a listed attorney does not create an attorney-client relationship with ClearLegalLA. A relationship with a listed attorney arises only if that attorney separately agrees to represent the user.
Community-claim and potential class-action intakes
Community-claim intakes collect information and supporting records for possible review. An intake is not a petition, claim form, retainer agreement, notice of representation, class-certification order, settlement claim, or request to opt into or out of a lawsuit. Submission does not create a case, establish class membership, guarantee referral, representation, recovery, or confidentiality under attorney-client privilege, or suspend prescription, limitations, appeal, administrative, or other deadlines. The typed name and affirmative checkboxes record the signer’s permission and accuracy statement; any later legal representation or court-required signature requires a separate process.
The receipt number and matching contact information provide access to a private participant portal for status information, ClearLegalLA updates, document requests, participant responses, additional uploads, and withdrawal. Portal activity does not create representation, guarantee a response or referral, alter a deadline, or replace direct contact with a lawyer. Generic email alerts may state that a secure portal update is available but do not include claim facts or document names.
A participant may withdraw the recorded sharing permission with the receipt number and matching contact information. Withdrawal governs future handling under that permission but does not undo a disclosure already authorized and completed, dismiss a filed case, or opt someone out of a class. If a lawyer, court, or settlement administrator later sends a separate notice, the recipient must follow that notice.
Accountability tips and investigations
The public accountability form collects information and supporting records for possible private review. A tip is not a police report, ethics complaint, agency filing, lawsuit, public-record request, retainer agreement, privileged attorney-client communication, or request for emergency help. Submission does not guarantee research, referral, publication, investigation, confidentiality, anonymity, whistleblower status, anti-retaliation protection, or any legal result, and it does not suspend a filing, reporting, prescription, limitations, appeal, employment, or administrative deadline.
The public receives no report or letter generator. Only the ClearLegalLA owner may use the private workspace to separate allegations from verified facts, log and assess sources, upload research records, assign follow-up work, identify a possible recipient, create versioned drafts, and export private investigation or evidence packages. Nothing is automatically published, filed, referred, or sent. The owner may decline, close, research, refer, or prepare a communication about a tip and does not promise that a particular agency has jurisdiction or will act.
A submitter must provide only material they lawfully possess and may not submit malware, child sexual-abuse material, classified information, sealed material they may not disclose, or information obtained by hacking, theft, impersonation, or unlawful interception. A receipt allows withdrawal of content still held by this system, subject to the privacy notice, but withdrawal cannot retrieve a disclosure already authorized and completed.
Attorney advertising placements
- Listings are paid advertising, not endorsements, rankings of legal ability, or promises of availability or results.
- Each parish-and-practice pairing is a separate placement with its own displayed fee, approval, availability, and subscription item. A firm may select multiple pairings and pay for approved items together in one itemized Stripe checkout.
- Placement approval may require verification of Louisiana bar status, responsible attorney, advertising filing or exemption, firm affiliation, office and contact information, and practice claims. Submission of an application does not reserve a slot and does not cause a charge.
- Advertisers must keep all public and verification information accurate and promptly report discipline, suspension, ineligibility, closure, affiliation changes, or misleading content.
- Payment does not influence legal pathways, source content, editorial decisions, reviews, or review scores. ClearLegalLA may reject, suspend, correct, or remove a listing that is inaccurate, unlawful, misleading, unverifiable, security-sensitive, or inconsistent with these terms.
Prices, renewal, and cancellation
The price and billing interval shown immediately before Stripe checkout control the purchase. Every selected placement is itemized. Subscriptions renew automatically at the displayed recurring rate until canceled. An advertiser may stop an individual placement’s future renewal through the ClearLegalLA account controls. Stripe’s portal may also cancel the entire subscription at the end of the current term. Paid access normally continues through the paid-through date; stopping renewal does not erase review history or guarantee that a limited slot will remain available after expiration.
Refunds, failed payments, and disputes
Advertising fees are generally nonrefundable after a paid term begins because the placement and limited category capacity are made available immediately. ClearLegalLA will review duplicate charges, confirmed billing errors, unauthorized transactions, and any refund required by law. Failed or reversed payments may prevent renewal or place the listing into payment review, but previously paid access is not shortened before its paid-through date solely because a later renewal fails. Refunds and charge disputes may require operator review before directory access is changed. Billing questions should be raised promptly and before filing a payment dispute when practicable.
Reviews
Review scores describe verified client experience, not legal expertise or probability of success. Reviews require a genuine consultation or engagement and private verification. Self-reviews, competitor attacks, incentives for positive reviews, payment to remove criticism, threats, personal information, and confidential case material are prohibited. Moderation addresses authenticity, safety, relevance, and conflicts rather than whether a review is favorable. Authors may request correction or appeal a moderation decision.
Acceptable use
Users may not submit unlawful content; impersonate another person; probe or disrupt security; upload malware; use the service to harass, defraud, intimidate, retaliate, or evade a court order; falsely imply government or bar approval; scrape protected account data; or file material they know is false. Tip submitters must distinguish firsthand knowledge, records, secondhand information, and inference. ClearLegalLA may preserve or disclose information when legally required and may restrict abusive or unsafe submissions.
Availability and changes
Features and source links may be corrected, suspended, or changed to address law, security, hosting, payment, or operational requirements. ClearLegalLA may update these terms prospectively. Material subscription changes will be reflected in the terms or checkout shown before a new purchase or renewal where required.
Liability limits
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ClearLegalLA provides informational, research, and document-support services without a guarantee of uninterrupted access, record completeness, legal sufficiency, title status, heirship, clerk acceptance, attorney performance, or outcome. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or remedy that applicable law does not permit the parties to waive.
Contact
For billing, listing, or review questions, use the advertising account controls. For account-access help, use account help. Do not submit confidential case facts or evidence through an ordinary support request.
